52 Pick Up

Really, if my kids never made a mess, I probably wouldn't be creating anything these days. Because Rebecca mutilated most of a deck of cards yesterday, I was "forced" to salvage them as only an artist would. I could not throw them out! HoRrORs! What a waste! As I unbent her primative attempts at origami, I realized that these cards had RED backs, which these days says "hearts" and "Valentines" to me. You can guess the rest.
All I will tell you is that none of these were created in my studio. I stood at the kitchen counter, dinner simmering on the stove, cutting up cards, as havoc was wreaked about me. Victoria loudly watched TV (this was after school) while Rebecca expended pent up energy running up and down the length of the house and Seth alternated between wanting to talk about something with me and fuming at Rebecca. I put down my scissors, gave him my undivided attention and then after several minutes of silence he spit out, "never mind" and stomped off. I create in desperation. Both these cards and Seth's issues were resolved by bedtime.

OK - granted I don't have a studio..... only a dining room table but I have never considered using the kitchen counter for "create space" It's pure genius! I guess we create the food that nourishes our family there.... why not multi task.....? You are so smart!! Glad to hear everything worked out...... xoxo anna

Girl, I don't see how you get anything done with that brood! I would be pulling my hair out with that many little ones...but God gave you the talent...the children...and the desire to create in the noise of life! Good for you!

Hi Nathalie,

Thanks so much for stopping by my silly little blog. It's so nice to meet you. I have snooped around your blog and love it. You have some of the same past time faves that I have; flea markets, garage sales, thrifting, etc. I love finding something old and trying to figure out how I can transform it. Unlike you, I am completely inept at trying to create unless there is absolute silence. My brain makes too much noise inside my head for me to allow outside noise to interrupt (except for my iPod - Glenn Miller, of course).

I've added you to my blog roll. I hope you will add mine to yours.

Love those cards! You will be able to do so much with them.

Maybe Rebecca was trying to make ATCs? Like mother like daughter!

Oh, dear, Nathalie - I'm so far behind on blog reading and worse on commenting -- so I'm looking at lots of posts here and going WOW!

The cards -- that made me laugh out loud! And they look fabulous! Inspiration from a boo-boo -- the best kind!

Oatmeal scones (sound great) and tea -- you sous chef is pretty darned cute.

Mona's gotta get a clue and take your advice!

And cleaning the studio -- well, if you find someone, send them over. Of course, they're not allowed to throw anything out. I suspect that's my problem...
