Weekend Art

Over two months ago (it could hardly be less) I said, "sure, I would love to swap with you". We set a deadline, a generous month to work something up and the deadline came and went. We decided we were flexible. Another month went by. At least by then I had started my project. It simmered and simmered. Finally, this past weekend, in a fit of resignation (eg: procrastination finally over come), I pulled out the project and glued down a photo, some lace, a yellowed and torn envelope and lots of ancient wallpaper salvaged from my in-law's latest house project. Hmmm. I liked the results.
And it seemed to take very little time when I finally put my mind to it.

Why do I put these things off? We all know the answer to that one. No, I don' want to hear you say you "never". Because I won't believe you..

FEAR OF FAILURE.

I don't know why we put things off either....fear of failure is probably right. I'd like a full view of that piece, btw.

I couldn't count how many times I've put off things for fear of failure! But, like you, once I begin I often surprise myself at my ability.

You're an amazing artist Nathalie! Don't let anyone tell you any different, even yourself!
Hugs, Ashlyn

Yep I do think that moment of just getting started is sometimes quite elusive although I can think of a number of reasons why. I reckon when you just go for it and do what's in your heart you inevitably get something you like! I'm with Linda, full view please!!

Well it looks lovely! But I suppose the fact that your artwork always comes out so well kind of works against you when it comes to fear of failure because then the bar is that much higher.

Mel, who puts off things too xxx

it must be a common thread amongst creative types :)
I sometimes have to tell myself
JUST DO IT!
Will we get to see more of this creation???

Fear of failure -- and too many irons in the fire; it's hard to pick, hard to finish -- that's my problem! But this is lovely! Your recipient will have found the wait worthwhile!
