Work in Play-gress

This rough hewn box holds a strange mystique. Like an ancient shrine made to hold a religious relic, that was never completed. Cast aside because it wasn't "going right". I happily acquired it in a box lot at an auction.
Now I take it off the shelf occasionally and "try" different ornaments on it. Yesterday I got closer to having something I liked. Nothing is tacked down as yet. Have to reinforce crumbling paper and make decisions like "tacks?" or "glue?". Maybe I think too long before acting, but with something this unique, I don't want to rush it.

The inside is still a blank book waiting to be written.

How lovely - I know I'm a bit of a "less is more Plain Jane" but I'd leave the box as is - with a wonderful suprise of your design inside !

2 votes plain. Any others?
I'm thinking it's a good thing I didn't glue anything down...

Looks great as is. I especially like the grouping of assorted needles and the unusual hooks. BUT...how mysterious it would be with an artful treasure on the inside rather than out!
Whatever makes you happy!!!

ooo you do have an eye for treasure
Love the sacred heart feel of the pins and heart
when you're ready to glue (I think it's looking fantastic btw) ... I really like using gel medium, it holds things together so nicely and dries clear too.
You have inspired me here just before heading off to the land of nod!

I REALLY like what you've done here! The heart kind of sets the tone for me and the heap of needles is great. The hooks and eyes work well and the single snap is a great balancing, I think.
I use gel medium for a ton of things, too.

Listen, Girlfriend, when I spied the box at the top of the post I was blown away by it. I like it the way you have the needles, the heart, the hooks, I LOVE IT. Glue, baby, glue, and don't tempt me. Yours forever, BFF (hmmm word verification: keyir.... hmmm key and ir?)

I adore what you're prposing - the sunburst effect with the needles is stunning. Yep, I'm in the 'glue it, girl' camp.
