Comforting Tea

Cold and dreary, wet and chilly,

it's autumn in Missouri!

Rebecca is home from school today;

a cough, sore throat keep her from play.

Means I have to be Mom and can't play either,

so I'm off to the couch with a book and tea,

Dora's already on TV;

but Rebecca prefers my company!

For today, my arting will have to wait,

my etsy shop may well stagnate,

for lack of new things to please the eye,

(I am trying not to cry).

"Coming Rebecca!" She's getting impatient.

I really must go.

Drink some tea and think of me-

a slouch on the couch

cuddling with my sickly girl.

I hope I don't get what she's got!

Love the poem. I feel for you. We had rainy weather yesterday, but it's much nicer today. It really IS starting to look like autumn has set in for good. Have a great tea day and please don't get sick.

Oh...it's no fun when the little darlings are sick. Have my fingers crossed for you that you don't get it as well.

Cute post in spite of Rebecca's sickness. Sometimes cuddling is the best thing to do. Enjoy the day.

A mother's sweet lament...

speaking from my rear view mirror look with boys all grown...those cozy couch times are over and done with much sooner than one could ever imagine...

hope your sweet girl is feeling much much better very soon AND that you get to PLAY!

p.s. sending you blue skies and the bright Virginia sunshine too

Sometimes I think those childhood sick days are the whole reason I don't get sick. A chance to slow down and let my own immune system beat it to the punch. Plenty of tea and snuggles are just the ticket. The rest can wait :)

Oh my she's a poet too! I'm sending a hug (and a prayer!) for both of you. :)
I like your typewriter table too. I picked up another one at an auction and was going to sell it to someone who occasionally picks from me but it's already been put to use in my sewing room.

I remember those days with the kids. Now I have all the time in the world to do art....but I miss the other too sometimes. Happy tea day.

Hang in there...better days will be coming. I will get the rain tomorrow so I will have total empathy for you all. Take care. Peace, Mary Helen

Oh, how I feel your pain, though I don't know that I express it nearly as eloquently and with such poetry!
Take care and enjoy your cozy time!

I've got what she's got :o(

But it's not so bad and I can still play :o)

I hope Rebecca felt better for her cuddles and that you don't pick up her germs.

All the best to Rebecca, nothing better than cuddles from Mum when you're feeling a bit poorly! Mx

Poor sweet thing. Hope she's better with each passing day. Down time is good time. :) Rhyme on, if only in your head. :) Be well.
